Corrie puts all her toys to bed

We find scenes like these all over the house:Not sure what they're in line for:But the pig wants whatever it is:Bed...or sock monkey trap??Even the silhouette of an animal gets a bed:Here, Corrie abandons the ole 2-acres-per-horse rule:

Photos by Corrie

We've taken hundreds of pics and clips of her by now... and now she wants to give it a try. Not only do these serve as a trip through our house through the eyes of a two-year-old, but it's interesting to see what she chooses to photograph. Here's what happens when she runs around with the camera:

Takes 20 seconds!

Please take 20 seconds to cast a vote for my friend BJ Hill and his young family. BJ's a good guy and was a great friend while I was at Kansas. His wife, little boy, and baby#2 due this July, have entered a home repair contest with their local radio station - and could really use the prize!

Vote here, daily if you want to, from May 13 - May 23.

**Their entry is the first one at the top, signed "JH" (Jayna Hill, his wife).
Pass the link along if you can!

Here are some pics of what he's working on:

sledding down the 'hill'

When I got home today it was twilight and the deep snow was still in our yard. Here's a clip of the 'slide' we made.
In the beginning of the clip she says "I'm ridn n da prpl sld dat grmma grmpa gave meee..." :) If you weren't used to her, that probably sounded like another language!
Thanks to Petersons for bringing the sled..

snow #2

Snow #2 was topped off with ice later, so it has an inch of snow covered in about 2 inches of ice. More in the forecast - travel safe out there!

Corrie laps

She was on lap 8 or 9 when I finally got the camera :P
The CareBear purse and wallet is from Diane, an advisor at work. They had a surprise shower for Sheila (also due end of Dec.) and me/Carrie.
The bus she's talking about is the bus ride at Walmart's arcade thing. It was replaced by a horse though :(
At the end, you can see Johnny's ear injury!

Corrie and Oliver last weekend

As the weeks get colder we have to find more ways of staying busy indoors. Corrie usually does a pretty good job of this, (see picture) smile, but last weekend we made a trip up to Granger to see Oliver and the rest of the family. This was all we could get from the two of them running around. They had a good time, mostly exploring the upstairs and jumping on the beds. This weekend we hope to rake more leaves in our yard and then the next, travel to see the Powell's for Thanksgiving.

O: "Corrie...?"
C: "I'm right here Oliverrrr!"

the last day of Fall

Monday was probably the last of these days. That night it was down in the 20s, and the rest of the week isn't much better. We're hunkering down for a long winter inside! See you in a few months, colors?

case closed!

We closed. Now the fun really begins :)
We moved our first batch of stuff in tonight, and schemed how we want the living room, etc. This week we're hunting for the right sofa and dining table. Friday our family comes into town, and Saturday we move with the big 17' truck (again).

Quote of the night:

"Oh no! Our food is all gone!" ~ Corrie, looking in the new (empty) fridge.

a new leaf

The leaves on the trees are turning into amazing colors - and we have one in our future yard. Our closing meeting is tomorrow (Monday) afternoon, so we went by the house to give it one last look-see. Corrie tried to sit in the firewood basket and liked to stomp on the floors. It's going to be a crazy week, weekend, and another week...so I apologize in advance for a bumpy blog ahead!

In addition to the wind farm, I also shot a couple of engagement sessions with future wedding clients. You can check them out here: http://brianpowell.smugmug.com

"Hi..." "Daddy, where are you...?" I hope she never falls hard down those stairs :o

complimentary fly-swatter

The inspection had no surprises or major issues. Just a few really minor things, like I wish they upgraded the panel to 200 amps instead of just 100.... A few limbs are getting to close to the house/power lines, and some stucco is coming off the chimney (bricks underneath), but everything else checks out A-OK. Carrie and Corrie enjoyed spending the time at the house Saturday trying everything out. (Corrie's favorite parts were the stairs and the complimentary fly-swatter.)Carrie is splicing a couple video clips together, so we'll have those soon :)

house offer and premature celebration

So the 'word on the street' is that they are going to accept our first offer :) so Corrie and I 'got Jenkee with it' on youtube with Ronald Jenkees. I know you want more pics and details (Angie) so we'll post those soon. :) but click on the listing link above for now. Still trying not to jinx it!
