a new addition

Everyone say hello to our friendly little oblong tomato! After months of waiting, two plants lost to squirrels (may they rest in peace) and the best trellis ever built this side of campus... we found a little roma tomato in our pot. (Now I think I know why the veggie tales videos are so popular. There's something kind of cute about a little tomato growing on a vine.) Anyone with squirrel hexes or secret squirrel repellent knowledge we'd be obliged if you shared. Keep growing little guy...

Yay mommy, can we keep him?

Do the Corrie!

She likes to dance now. Well... spinning around mostly. Here's a clip from today:

She is growing up so fast.. She can put together 2 or 3 signs now and make a complete 'sentence'. Carrie told me today that she pointed to the bedroom door, signed 'Dad', and put her finger over her mouth to say 'shhh' :P (I needed a nap after being up until 4:30a one night this week)

Here's a link to a new album on Shutterfly. Congrats to Teresa and Michael (Teresa was the interpreter coordinator at Western).

Jeff Morning

Keep Jeff Morning, and his friends and family, in your prayers this week. Jeff is an RA working with us in summer hall. A bunch of the guys play ball at Preston, and yesterday his heart and breathing stopped. It was believed to be a sudden form of arrhythmia.

Gracefully, it happened on the court with officer Ward running nearby. CPR was started and the response was quick to get a defibrillator to resuscitate him. All tests have been clear and negative, and today we're waiting for him to come off of the sedatives (oh, he's a fighter! :) They may give him a type of pacemaker that will reset his heartbeat if it happens in the future.

Hang in there, Jeff.

big girl bike

We had a good visit with Grandma and Grandpa Powell last weekend. They brought a great new toy to grow into but the best part about grandma's and grandpa's are the hugs. Corrie is starting to recognize and love her grandparents. (The morning after they got here she went "looking" for grandma and grandpa, walking around and signing GRANDPA...)

Corrie and I may both be walking around looking for brian the next few weeks... It is the beginning of the new school year and already they have begun 3 monstrous weeks of training. We're sorry summer is over! It went by so fast...

other pictures include corrie's new favorite past-time... picnics on the floor in her chair with johnnie, speaking of johnnie, just a sleepy one of him and then finally some of the goofiest pictures of corrie yet... (she loves to look at the pictures on the back of the camera and press the buttons).

Road trip

EDIT: the photos are now on my Shutterfly page; click here and view as a slideshow.

Happy Birthday Brandon Miles and happy late birthday, America! We took a trip up to northern Indiana to see the Petersons. On the way, we detoured through Bloomington to have lunch with my former colleague who's at IU. Up here, we had a kiddie pool in the yard, saw all the Graber clan, and visited with Carrie's brother Petey who came from Colorado. We played bocce ball, gave haircuts, played disc golf, ate pizza, played with babies (our own, of course), et cetera. :)

We have fun pics, but you'll have to wait until I get back to unload them :P The Powells are visiting next weekend in Bowling Green, and it will also be their anniversary!
