Corrie's weekend edition

[getting close to a bee, after mom said not to scream when they come close] "Hello. I don't like you."

[emerging from a pile of pillows] "I'm a butterfly coming out of the chrysalis!"
(where did you learn that word??) "from America"

Cousin Oliver: "Grandmas are useful!"

and the Corrie says:

(what's 5 plus 1?)
"100!"
(no, silly, that's not 100)
"99!?"

[walking around the house with toy stroller]

I'm pretending to be a person and saying, "hello."

[after a Starlight mint]
Look mom, I'm breathing peppermint air out of my nose.

Did you see him mom?
(who, president Obama?)
Yeah, and he has lots of flags in his house...

and a random quote from the Curious George video:

"well, sometimes girls and monkeys think alike!"

Mary's crawlin?!

A 2-for-1 clip here (hence the length): Corrie playing Dr. or nurse or mad scientist (you decide) and Mary crawls about 15 feet in the span of 40 minutes. Not a good rate, I'll give you that -- but it's a start!

Check out her spiderman stance:

the box kind

Ask Corrie what she would like to eat and 9 times out of 10 she will say, "Macaroni and cheese, please." Today we picked the 25% less sodium box and she said, "Look mom, this macaroni costs 2...5... dollars." Of course, we must keep trying the noodles in the pot to see if they are done and today, after sampling the end result she exclaimed, "holy cow... YUMMY!" (Now if only she would say that about carrots.)

It is a simple treat we don't get very often but it sure is a favorite of hers.

And since this is a food post... Mary is enjoying her greens and yellow/oranges. I am enjoying making batches of fresh green beans from the garden, peas, avocado, mango, papaya, and sweet potato. She can pick up cheerios (and even feed them to you!) and after switching to a different cup can drink water with the best of them.

Corrie quotes to start your week off right

Some really good ones, but they all seem to need context now...

[talking in the morning about drinking lots of water for a cold]

"Yeah, and the water washes out all the boogers out of your mouth that you ate!"

[playing piano]
"Hey dad, do you want to watch how my fingers go??"

[after dimming the lights and listening to them hum]

"The light is grumbling.."
[turning them back up]

"There, I made him feel better!"

[sitting in silence at lunch]
"Are YOU thinking what I'M thinking?!]

visiting the great-grandparents Powell

We drove down to Leasburg, MO (pop.280) to see them over the Labor Day weekend. I think it was the first time they met Mary (?)

Corrie quotage

[pretending to be the animal expert on the Tonight Show]
"I have some animals with me.... :) and this one is a very LARGE animal! You have to be very careful.."

"Look at me, I'm Superman!"
['you're not a man..']
"Well, I'm not a woman...I'm a girl!"

"Daddy I tasted my shoe....and it wasn't good."

"Mommy, can you put your lap together? I want to cuddle."

[in the tub] "Aaaahhhh... this is the best water I ever laid in!"
