Happy Birthday Grandma Peterson...

We hope your actual day is as much fun as the weekend. Watch for yourself and you can't help but laugh with our cousin Oliver.

We love you lots!

at work

My window is the only one with the blinds pulled up on the 8th floor (top is 10th floor). See it? Here's the inside:

funny cake

Whether this is a fake cake, or a real-life sample, it's funny either way :)
Just imagine ordering this over the phone from your local Wal-Mart, and picking this up:
We will be celebrating grandma Peterson's birthday this weekend... and will try not to make any mistakes like this one :P I think we're making birthday pizza, actually. Maybe Carrie is making cake, I dunno. More on our weekend adventures later (throw in a family reunion in there somewhere....)

will this be our home?

We hope so. Inspection is Thursday, and if all goes well we'd like to offer on it next week. Keep your fingers and toes and eyes crossed!

post number 305

We've come a long way, baby(s). After 300+ posts, it's time for a makeover. And some more pics :)A lily at my parent's house..We trekked out into the woods to see Steve's deer paradise spot -- but the bug spray (pictured) did not keep the chiggers off of me.. I'm still recovering!
Funny part of the zoo featuring Missouri wildlife. (Who goes to a zoo in Missouri to see Missouri wildlife?) I think this was supposed to be a river, compete with a fish and random cooler in the bottom of the river. (?)

Our Family is Growing

For all those who didn't think it was fun to guess on that last question...smile.

I have been meaning to post something about the appointment, Brian just got to it before I did. I like my new doctor, Dr. George. Actually I just like saying her name. Anyways, as the nurse kept sliding the bar up when weighing me I knew I was getting big. I told this to the doctor and she thought so too, a little too big for how far along we thought I was. So we went down the hall for an ultrasound... there was only one, clearly recognizable little person in there. Just a little bigger than we thought. It was pretty neat to see. So two weeks went by just like that! (I enjoyed that part.)

Also, they had the hiccups. I'm glad Brian was able to come thanks to my mom and Kerrie Ann who watched Ollie and Corrie while we went. Also thanks to my sister-in-love for the great maternity clothes to borrow. I think I'm going to need them sooner than I thought!

Corrie on the merry-go-round

Corrie's favorite part of the park is the merry-go-round. Thank goodness it has some kind of safety brake on it..but she stays in the middle anyway. As you can tell, it takes 3 or 4 kids to get it to spin just a few times--but she likes it. This is at Columbian Park in Lafayette, which has the biggest collection of playgrounds I've ever seen (one for each stage of life? From two to teens. Even bench swings for old people!) The park also has a 'zoo', a train, lake, waterpark, gazebos, baseball stadium, frozen custard stand....

Take a guess

Carrie had her appointment on Friday, and the doc said she was pretty big for 14 weeks. What do you think the conclusion was?

A) She's not at 14 weeks <---She's at 16 weeks! Due Dec. 26th...
B) There are 2 little Powells in there
C) It was a false 'alarm'
D) Carrie has had tooo many of those fish sandwiches.

The answer later :)

popsicles

Thanks to aunt Cassie for the sweet popsicle holders (with a juice-catcher/sipper at the bottom!). We got this new memory card for the camera, and it takes really clear videos now (640 'fine' instead of 640 'standard') -- but apparently you can't see too much of a difference on youtube :( [update: when you view the clips ON the youTube page, you can select "watch in high quality", near the lower right corner of the video]

"I'm working too!"

Corrie still loves to sit at the computer like mom and dad and 'work' or 'check my e-mail' (or go potty on dad's lap because she's busy watching the video on the screen and forgets to use the real potty).

So now she has an e-mail address. For realsies. You can send her a note at "imworking2 [at] gmail [dot] com" :) She'll attempt to read it; we'll help, of course.

w.o.w. !

Mom went shopping with grandma Powell and I had some fun with Corrie by the glass door. The top image is a fun ASL sign for "Wow!" - two Ws and an O in the middle. A recent Corrie favorite :) When I got her to sit still and look 'into the hole' (and not at me), it was a super cute result. "Wow".

zoo clips

The "Somali Wild Ass" is mentioned/shown at least twice in the clips below. Can you find them?

we're going to the zoo!

Tomorrow morning we'll be at the St. Louis Zoo. Hopefully we'll come back after the weekend with some neat images of our adventures like these:

See you Monday! Have a fun, safe Fourth of July...

a mystery in history?

I get fowards on e-mail...and most of them are insta-deletes. This one, however, was pretty nifty. Not that I even fact-checked it or anything (would be a funny joke if someone made up a bunch of dates and whatnot), so read at your own risk.

"Have a history teacher explain this----- if they can.
Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head

Now it gets really weird.
Lincoln 's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln .

Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln , was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln , was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.
Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Now hang on to your seat.
Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford.'
Kennedy was shot in a car called ' Lincoln ' made by 'Ford.'

Lincoln was shot in a theater and his assassin ran and hid in a warehouse.
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and his assassin ran and hid in a theater.
Booth and Oswald were both assassinated before their trials.

And here's the kicker...
A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe , Maryland
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe."
