At the Zoo

On Saturday we travelled to the Nashville zoo. Even though most of the animals were asleep it was nice to get away on one of our last free Saturdays before finals and closing the building. A few highlights...

the giraffes
(just kidding, but the real ones were my favorite, smile. See below.)

Watching zebras... far, far away.
Corrie's favorite...
This giraffe was very curious and came right up to us. He was close enough we could see his very long tongue.

Corrie mainly enjoyed seeing all the other babies, humans that is. We did find a caterpillar crawling across the path and Brian had to do his best to get Corrie to face her fears.

happy anniversary Houghtons

Finally had another weekend off and finished their album :P You can view it on my smugmug gallery: http://brianpowell.smugmug.com/

(note: they're not in page order in the smugmug gallery... I will come back and fix that tomorrow night.)

love is in the air...

Congrats to the all of the newly engaged :) (friends from KU) It must be contagious...

Karen Devine and Stevens (in the Boulder/Denver area)
Lee Bickerstaff and Chelsea (Omaha, NE)
I'm interviewing at U. Indiana - Bloomington today (Thursday) at 1p CST, so be thinking of me then :) I think we're taking Corrie to the z-o-o this Saturday, so stay tuned for pics and clips from that adventure.

The question is 5 things you want your kids to know before they grow-up. Here's my list:

1. I want Corrie to know she has a special purpose and that God knows her.

2. How to serve and be gracious.

3. My mistakes and what I know now.

4. I want my kids to know to have fun and to have joy...

5. I want my kids to know that special relationship that happens between a grandma and grandpa and a grandchild.

I never was a big chain letter person but I will tag some others...

Sarah Miles (even though her and her husband do not have children as of right now I kind of think she already has an idea of what she wants her kids to know. When she would watch Corrie she would make sure every once and a while they watched a little ESPN together.)

Shepherds (Good friends and good parents.)

the Bashams (I'm a fan of the Basham way of living and could probably learn something...smile.)

and lastly my cousin Jenny (Mother of three and makes it look so easy. You can just see that she enjoys her children... something I want to do too.)

and anyone else feel free to leave comments and tag others!

comprehensive exam

I found out that I passed the comps for my graduate program :) Now to actually use this degree.... hmm..

Numero Dos!

Well, did you expect to be reading this as you cruise around the blogosphere? Corrie went 'number two' in her potty last night :) Wooohoo! Sorry, no photo available. Now we have to find something more special than marshmallows. Maybe the zoo?

Mammoth Cave, birthday weekend

That first picture at the picnic table is Corrie's new face. She can do that stern, eyebrows-down look right back at ya :)

Adventures with Corrie

Check out the pig tails, the counting, and the spiffy new rain boots! The puddle wasn't much of a puddle today, but she adventured outside anyway...

We also went to Mammoth Cave Nat'l Park last weekend with "G-paw and gammaw" Powell, so stay tuned for those photos. G-paw's birthday is this Friday! (Mom's was 3/31, so we celebrated both last weekend..)
