Corrie quotes

(while coloring at the table)
"I wish I could invent things!   I would invent a machine that could clean my room.... one that would enjoy that sort of thing."

(leaving the donut shop)
"Oh, I WISH I lived there..."

"We didn't see any horses or cows"
It's cold outside; they're probably inside.
"Maybe they went South!  or maybe they went to... the beach?  or... the desert? It's always hot in the desert."

Leftover quote from Christmas:
"Mom, I don't remember when Jesus was born."
Huh?
"Well, Christmas is supposed to be when you remember Jesus being born...and I can't even remember that!"

Mary quotes!
Do you want some toast?
(Mary lifts her cup)
"Toast!"

Mary and the moon

The moon is Mary's new best friend :)

The last couple of nights were clear with a full moon, so I took the girls outside to see the moon just above the trees.  You could see your shadow.

Now, Mary runs up to me and says 'Noom!?'   'I go??'

We go outside to see the 'noom', she points and says 'up-a-tree!'  (the moon was just above the trees). When we go back inside I tell her to say 'goodnight, moon'.   She says "nigh'nigh....I love you, bye!"

the girls

In case you missed it on Facebook or my photo blog, I took some pics of the girls in their homemade dresses the other night. Carrie made Mary's blue dress and her mom made Corrie's. Here's one photo, and the rest are at brianpowell.info
Here are a few more from Easter at the Petersons:

Pedicures by Corrie

Paint Corrie's toes?  Sure!  What happens the next day to Mary?  Corrie uses her favorite markers to pretty-up Mary's toes:

And by toes I mean toes. Not toenails - that was so 2009.   I found Mary like this when I got home to wake her up from a nap :)

Mary walkin

Going for a stroll at the Peterson's....
Corrie:  "She looks like she's going shopping!"  (Black Friday?)

dressin' up

Let the candy rationing begin!  This was the first actual Halloween that Corrie got to knock on people's door and get candy (her favorite thing right now!).  Mary enjoyed being a flower (or synchronized swimmer person?) and riding in the wagon and Johnny wound up hiding under somebody's bushes most of the evening.  We had a great time!

Grandpa and Grandma Powell were here for a much loved visit.   We sure had a lot of fun and according to Corrie Grandpa takes A LOT of naps!  A quote from the weekend... Corrie eyeing the candy corn, "Mommy, can you keep an eye on me?".   Sure, Honey :)

fall leaves

At the end clip, Mary was watching me finish raking..and playing peekabo by ducking below the window and popping back up :) Just missed it.

Mary and Johnny, part 2

In this clip, Mary can't get to Johnny so she gives up - almost. At the end is her version of the 'meow' that she often does to Johnny (he doesn't meow a lot, but when he does it's in a raspy voice. Just like Mary's impression).

open gym

Our playgroup has had to move indoors because of the cooler weather. This week we explored a local gym during open hour. We have really been enjoying meeting with other friends and definitely enjoyed this weeks activity. They were pretty pooped after jumping in the foam pit, swinging on the rope swing and bouncing on the trampoline/tumble run. Of course Corrie on the way out spotted a pink leotard and had to ask if we could get it... maybe someday in the future!

Mary's crawlin?!

A 2-for-1 clip here (hence the length): Corrie playing Dr. or nurse or mad scientist (you decide) and Mary crawls about 15 feet in the span of 40 minutes. Not a good rate, I'll give you that -- but it's a start!

Check out her spiderman stance:

visiting the great-grandparents Powell

We drove down to Leasburg, MO (pop.280) to see them over the Labor Day weekend. I think it was the first time they met Mary (?)
