The Office: tonight at 9/8c

In case you haven't heard it a million times already, the season premier of the best show since Seinfeld is tonight on NBC, 9p/8c.

Todd or Chuck?

Short story (these are plentiful with a two or three year old, I guess):

Larry King was on TV, and he had Chuck Norris as one of his guests. Corrie points to the screen and exclaims "Look- Uncle Todd! And he's moving!" Todd also has a beard, but it is much larger than Chuck's (the pic below was from a few months ago) -- and I think that's where the similarity ends.
(that's Oliver too, who is scared of my big lens that looks like a scary black hole of sorts..)

the Olympics: twenty years ago

The Olympics are bringing back memories. Twenty years ago, in 1988, the Olympics helped the case of the Powells buying a television. I couldn't even find a pictures of it online: a 13" (or 19"?) color Emerson, with a separate button for each channel.

It was a boon year for us. We also bought a brand new Ford Escort that year. 1987 and '88 are about the earliest I can remember.. fully, you know - day to day. I was ten. (Jack Buck was on the radio.. and I would listen to Cardinal games before our TV.)

Anyway, we watched Carl Lewis - if I remember correctly. 20 years later, we'll be watching the 'Redeem Team' and others take on the world. Here's a pic of my favorite, D-Wade, in a monster dunk:
