Well by the time this post goes live, we should be in the middle of our week at Tybee Island with the Powell parents and the Steve/Betsy/Livy fam. :) Tybee means 'salt' to native Americans (not sure which) and I tried to explain to Corrie last week before we left about how the ocean water was salty and you couldn't drink it because it would be yucky--but that she might get some in her mouth anyway just playing in the waves with me. She said 'that's OK, daddy, you can drink the salty water.. I don't want to!'Hopefully on our way we'll get to stop in Bowling Green to see old friends and eat lunch at Garcia's (Mexican - the best fajitas/salsa/sweet-tea combination I've found anywhere!). Dinner in Chattanooga crossing roadtrip paths with Steve and Betsy (?) and then crashing at my mom's sisters' log cabin in Rome, GA :)
The backstory is that mom has never seen the ocean (Dad has now, on a couple missions trips), so we planned this family trip last winter to Tybee (a place I knew pretty well from spring break ultimate frisbee tournaments with the Kansas team). It's only 18 miles from Savannah, which is a cool little Southern city as well. So we booked this house on the far south end of the island, only two houses off the beach. Here is one of the views from the house:
Civil War fort and lighthouse, disc golf, body boarding, grilling for lunch, dinner in Savannah, chilling in the hot tub at night.....doing my best (not good) Eddie Murphy doing James Brown impression, "gotta get in da haht-tuhb!"
