back from Colorado

Back from Colorado Springs, visiting Petey and Cassie - Carrie's brother and sister-in-law. We also got to catch up with McShea (a college buddy from KU) as well as Keith and Jennifer Dawes (from church in BG). It was a great time and a good trip; Corrie's first flight (video clip coming) and she loved the plane (and 'train' ride at DIA)
Her relationship with Jabez was in 3 stages. Day 1, she was terrified to come nose-to-nose with a big dog like Jabez. Day 2, she was cautiously curious. Days 3-5, she was terrorizing Jabez, who longed for childless afternoon naps again. Here she is interrupting her nap with a hug. Here is a clip of Carrie skiing at Breckenridge. After a traumatic first run, I coaxed her back up after lunch and she got the hang of it enough to make a few more trips. By her third run, she didn't fall at all! :) Petey was a trooper and took one for the team; he and Corrie had fun back in Springs while Cassie drove us out to ski all day. Stay tuned for more pics and clips in another post....

The birthday brunch

Before Brian left last thursday we had a scrumptious birthday brunch with my brother and family and my grandma and grandpa Graber. Some of my favorite pics...

You can put the magnets back up...

Grandpa, you can put the magnets back on the fridge. That's where they belong. We'll see you again soon and I love you. Corrie

Hope you feel better soon Grandma Peterson...

This was Grandma the day we left. She had to have surgery on her foot but didn't want to miss out on all the fun so she waited til the morning of our last day. Corrie liked seeing Grandma's big bandaid. She seemed pretty good and we hope she is sewing with her left foot real soon!

the aunts and uncles

(can you guess what these two are up to?)

new things Corrie learned while we were away (Brian noticed how different she was after just 2 days, smile)... saying, "uncle tod" - counting the steps in mom and dad's big stairway - water... bed? how can that be? - and snow!

a trip up north...

Well, we're back. The poor kia sounded older as we drove back yesterday. Certainly we logged some miles on it. We left last Tuesday and spent the night half-way up Indiana to see what it would be like if we actually lived that close to our families! It was nice. Brian left Thursday after a birthday brunch to go farther up to Wisconsin for a conference. Corrie and I stayed with grandparents and spent some time with Oliver and my brother and sister.

Corrie and Ollie became quite a pair. They seemed to really enjoy being together. Ollie has a great, "whazzzzup..." (his favorite word, I gather).

checking out belly buttons...

Grandpa had made a special house out of a big box for them...
everyone liked to get inside, even the big people.
We had such a great time... it will be a multiple post affair!
