cancer update

Almost a year since last surgery.. Had a checkup last week and go back in Nov. for a CT scan. Everything has been good; I had been gaining weight back until July :\ and lost a bit between July and Sept.
These last few days, I've been fighting allergy/sinus issues. Well, now I think it might be something more serious (having more symptoms...fever, dizzy, lungs and heart hurt, dehydrated and weak) I'm trying to stay in bed and drink more water.

A Poland Hall resident is interviewing us for the WKU yearbook - cancer, Corrie, family living in the halls, etc. Guess it could make a story (I'm not very emotional or dramatic though :) Stay tuned for a video clip of Corrie in her bouncy swing!

Sorry about the sideways video - ask Carrie :)

We'll miss you, grandpa Koester...

My mom's dad, Oscar, was born in 1914. His great grandfather was the first to leave their little town in Germany when they were conscripting boys for the war against Russia... and was the first to settle in southern Illinois (Red Bud).

Mom grew up on the dairy farm with 7 siblings; there are a lot of us grandkids...and so far, 12 great-grandchildren. Quite a family legacy...

As you can see, he always got a collared shirt of some kind for Christmas (his birthday the day after Christmas too..) The photo says 1998, but that was actually around 2002 or so..
He was great at Scrabble. He had one of those boards where each letter tile had it's own little box to sit in.. and I think the board would even spin around to the next player.
It was good to see the whole family there this weekend - we'll see you at Thanksgiving,

too early for the bouncy seat?

She can barely hold herself up, but she seems to like to bounce in this thing :) She needs a little help, of course.

Carrie's been sewing. Here's a pic of a 'diaper stacker' and the skirt for the crib:

first 'rock concert'

Friday night, we went to Foxhole's last(?) Bowling Green show (we know most of the guys in the band). Derek is heading to Austria, and Adam has already moved to Nashville...so it might be their last for quite a while.

The three rockin' babies pictured are all about 1 month apart- it was Corrie's first rock concert, as you can tell by the blue jean jacket (which needs some patches and buttons..) :) Thanks to Justin for the photo

They hung out in the balcony for a while, but it was still too loud up there... so they went outside. You can see some photos from the show at http://brianpowell.shuttefly.com (scroll down 1 album).

Corrie 'learning her shapes and colors'

We've even tried putting her in the bouncy chair/swing thing.. but she's not quite big enough yet :)

Carrie's interpreting a Mon/Wed./Fri. class at 12:30 and I get to watch her.

I get my first official days off this weekend...in about 2 months. I may have to take a day next week sometime; I'm pooped!

congratulations are in order..

"Take me out to the wed-ding,
take me out to the crowd..."

Ben and Jaiya made it official on Wed., and I was able to get some photos for them.

Have a great time at the game in Philly! :)
